Spencer began training Muay Thai in 2007 under Kru Alberto Ramirez in Tacoma, WA. Prior to that Spencer was involved in various traditional martial arts at the age of nine. After roughly a year with Kru Alberto he began training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in addition to Muay Thai in my hometown of Olympia, WA, taking his first MMA match at the age of 17. From the ages of 16 to about 20 he was trying to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in addition to learning the intricacies of striking, during this he compiled an amateur MMA record of 2-1. Spencer then began to focus on each discipline separately after realizing he found more value in learning the disciplines independent of one another. He began to focus exclusively on striking just before my 21st birthday and made weekly commutes to Tukwila, WA to work with Eric Dahlberg at Ring Demon AC.

“After working with Eric I began to understand the enormity of detail involved in striking. I took my first amateur kickboxing match during a three month trip to Japan in May 2012, where i trained with OGUNI-gym in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. I have continued to work toward further comprehending the art of Thai boxing since moving to Austin, TX, training exclusively under Elton Wells.”

Spencer moved to Austin January of 2013, and started here at training at Pinnacle Training Center in Cedar Park within one week of his arrival. Since moving to Austin Spencer has competed in several Muay Thai / Kickboxing smokers locally and out of state, winning every match.

“My life has been greatly influenced by these sports since I started training in 2007. It means a lot to me to be able to teach people this art; I am a huge advocate of drilling, repetition, and explaining things in a way to maximize comprehension. I feel responsible to teach those who attend my classes the proper technique as well as making sure they understand the importance of drilling and the mechanics of techniques.”
